How to use Autel MaxiPRO MP808TS diagnostic scanner to actively test transmission shift solenoids for a 2003 7th generation Honda Accord? Today I’m gonna show with a quick bidirectional test. It is quite helpful for isolating defective shift solenoids when trying to troubleshoot shift solenoid codes.
Connect Autel MP808TS to the OBD2 port of vehicle, then get to start:
Select your vehicle model first
Diagnostics >> Honda >> System Selection >> USA >> 2003
Diagnosis >> Control Unit >> AT
Diagnostic system initializing... wait for a moment
We are now working on the automatic transmission, this function is really important especially if you have shift solenoid related codes. It will help you to turn them on and off. When that happens you will hear an audible click.
It does help you truly establish whether a solenoid is filled or if it’s weak. Because if the click that gives is not as loud compared to the others, then it tells you that particular solenoid is not working well.
Once the MP808TS scanner loads this interface for automatic transmission, press “Miscellaneous test” to go on.
So here you have a whole bunch of active tests that you can conduct, you have 5 shift solenoids on this vehicle. I am going to do shift solenoid A, let’s move over to the hood.
Shift solenoid A >> OK >> Do as the prompts, press “OK”>> OK
Listen to the solenoid clicking.
This test could take up to 30 seconds, wait until 100%...
This solenoid is clicking well. Basically it just been turned on and off as it does that you are hearing the clicking.
Test is finished.
You can go ahead to test all the other shift solenoids, which is one good feature of Autel MP808TS scan tool. It can help to isolate solenoids that are bad.
